This lovely place always has always attracted and inspired artists, among them the famous graphic artist Alfred Kubin who made Wernstein is home. Wernstein’s landmark is the 17-meter tall Column of the Virgin which, modeled after its famous Munich counterpart, was made from sandstone and granite (1646). Other worthwhile attractions include Wernstein and Neuburg castles and Zwickledt, the former residence and workplace or Alfred Kubin.
