The Danube alone, which flows right through the heart of the city, is a source of energy for residents and visitors alike. Anyone who climbs the Pöstlingberg via the steepest adhesion railway is rewarded with a panoramic view. The Ars Electronica Center offers a glimpse into the future, as this museum showcases how artificial intelligence is transforming our lives. Other museums also showcase just how diverse the city can be: While the voestalpine Steel World turns industrial facilities into an interactive experience and the Lentos Art Museum is known for its contemporary collection, the colorful “Mural Harbor” graffiti gallery in the harbor is a delight. The performing arts venues are also always worth a visit: While the Brucknerhaus, located right on the Danube, boasts unique acoustics, the Musiktheater ranks among Europe’s most modern opera houses and presents not only opera but also musicals and dance. Linz has many facets waiting to be discovered. If you’re looking to visit an interesting city off the beaten path, this is the place for you. All you need to bring is curiosity and the courage to embrace change.
