Oberkappel is particularly popular among fishing enthusiasts. The **[Ranna Reservoir](https://www.donauregion.at/oesterreich-poi/detail/400713/rannatalsperre-rannastausee.html)**, **[Lake Rannabad](https://www.donauregion.at/oesterreich-poi/detail/201375/rannabadesee.html)**, and the **fly-fishing waters of the Ranna River are** ideal for fishing. There is a good population of fish, including zander, carp, pike, rainbow trout, brown trout, tench, perch, and many more. **Fishing permits available at:** **Rannabadesee** **(Austrian shore):**- Fischer Family, Falkenstraße 10, 4144 Oberkappel; Tel. 07284/216 - Oberkappel Municipal Office, Marktstraße 4, 4144 Oberkappel; Tel. 07284/202 Day pass: €15.00 **Rannastaussee:** Since 2021, the Rannastausee has been jointly managed by Gasthof Süss and Energie AG OÖ and will therefore be available in the future as a single body of water—from the confluence of the Osterbach to the dam—without any fishing boundaries. *This means that the entire Ranna Reservoir can be fished with just one fishing permit.*The fishing regulations remain essentially unchanged; the upper section of the Ranna (from the confluence of the Osterbach to the Langmühle) will continue to be managed as a fly-fishing section in the future, just as it has been in the past.
