This natural area consists of meadows, arable farming, rough pesture and lawn. Many different nature reserve friendly and valuable habitats can be found in this area.

The Machland is characterised by extended meadow areas that merge into lower terraces. When looking at the banks of the lower terraces, valuable habitats can be found: rough pesture and lawn which need to be protected from a professional point of view.

Meadow forests are mainly formed by commercial forests, but some last silver willow meadows and a few meadow waters can also be found. Those waters are important habitats for endangered birds, fish and amphibian species as well as for valuable plants.

The lower terraces are the highest and most ancient unit of the Machland.

Gravel pits and fruit tree meadows are habitats that have been made by man but they serve as important connecting elements. Bigger villages and towns care located on the lower terraces.
