From an economic point of view, commercial fishing is of rather minor importance in the Linz Basin. The possibilities of fishing as a leisure activity are quite varied. For example, pike, zander, tench and carp are caught. Recreational fishing is also more important (also economically) than commercial fishing in the Enns. In the Enns-Danube area, fishing, especially Huchen fishing, has a centuries-old tradition. The Enns fishing association is an active, ecologically orientated fishing association. The establishment of large stagnant waters in the floodplain north of the Enns harbour is due to its initiative. Spawning grounds and water structures are created (in co-operation with the town of Enns and Ennskraft). Even the bravest boatmen were frightened when the fog hung over the Danube valley. The Danube legend of the same name tells of a terrible experience that a merchant once had in the "Dicken Luft".
