The building combines modern architecture with historical finds. In the entrance area there are four portrait panels of famous people from Linz: Anton Bruckner, Johann Adam Pruner, Johannes Kepler and Kaiser Friedrich III. The town hall in its current form dates from the 1670s, but both older components can be assumed and younger ones are visible. According to tradition, the town hall of the city of Linz has stood at this point since 1415. In 1985 parts of the city administration moved to the New Town Hall in Urfahr, the mayor has his office on the main square. In the foyer of the Old Town Hall, aerial photos of the Linz city area are shown on the floor as a walk-through city map. Interested parties can view their way through the city from a different perspective from Monday to Friday (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). In the old town hall there is also the tourist information, where those interested in Linz can get useful tips and information about the Danube city.
