Day 1 - Individual arrival in Passau, Passau–Engelhartszell by boat
After your individual arrival in Passau for your cycle holiday, enjoy a stroll through the beautiful old town and visit the cathedral with the world's largest organ, before embarkation aboard the MS Carissima at 4.30 pm. At approx. 6.00 pm, you leave Passau in direction Engelhartszell and your cycle tour from Passau to Vienna and Budapest starts.
Day 2 - Donauschlinge/Engelhartszell–Aschach, approx. 42 km
In Engelhartszell (with its beautiful monastery), your cycling tour starts with the romantic river landscape of the Donauschlinge, one of the most beautiful river stretches along the Danube with picturesque small villages. If you enjoy cycling you can cycle a round tour of the Schlögener Schlinge” (approx. 15 km) before you reach the picturesque village Aschach, where you go aboard the MS Carissima and continue your journey.
Day 3 - Devin-Bratislava, approx. 43 km
The Danube cycle path leads to the Devin's fortress complex and the impressive Castle Hof with one of Europe's beautiful baroque gardens. Continue along the Danube cycle path through mystic alluvial forests before reaching the lively city of Bratislava by bike. A city tour (optional) leads you up to the castle hill offering a magnificent view across the city of coronation before the bike tour ends with a stroll through the beautifully restored old town with its lovely lanes and sights.
Day 4 - Budapest, bike tour Szentendre, approx. 54 km (or day at leisure)
The entrance to Budapest is stunning with its view onto famous sights and impressive buildings aboard the MS Carissima. During a sightseeing tour by bike or bus (optional) explore Hungary's capital or visit the beautiful art town Szentendre, enjoying a folklore show with traditional music (optional).
Day 5 - Donauknie–Esztergom, approx. 43 km
Today cycling through the beautiful landscape of the ‘Donauknie' is an excursion through Hungarian's history. Leave the former imperial residence of Visegrád and cycle through picturesque, gently hilly landscape of the so-called Hungarian Wachau. You continue via the baroque village of Vác before you reach Esztergom with its impressive Basilica and Hungarian's largest church.
Day 6 - Vienna - day at leisure
Enjoy the lively city of Vienna during a cycle or bus tour (optional). Visit some of the most famous sights: the Prater, the Stephan's Cathedral, the Hofburg Palace and the Grand Ringstraße Boulevard with the Burgtheater, State Opera House and Town Hall. In the evening, enjoy a waltz or operetta concert in the Vienna Hofburg (optional) or visit a typical Viennese Heurigen, before you return with the MS Carissima to the Wachau Valley.
Day 7 - Wachau Valley/Krems-Melk, approx. 37 km
The last cycle day in Austria is the king's stage along the Danube cycle path! The gently hilly landscape with its charming villages, vineyards, fortresses, monasteries and ruins enchant everybody. Over the small town of Dürnstein an impressive ruin towers and the blue tower of the collegiate church is the landmark of the Wachau Valley. In Weißenkirchen there are many Heurigen taverns directly along your cycle route (possibility for wine tasting – optional). After a ceremonial Dinner, enjoy afterwards a show program aboard the MS Carissima.
Day 8 - Individual departure from Passau
Every cycle tour comes to its end so enjoy once more the journey past the beautiful landscape of the Upper Danube and the peaceful morning hours before reaching Passau relaxed at approx. 10.00 am. Individual departure – we recommend to arrange any travel connections not before 11.30 pm
